SimCity has more to offer than meets the eye.

So, I am telling a good friend of mine that he should get SimCity because I need people to play with. And APPARENTLY this kid has never even heard of SimCity, and I'm like "How is that even possible?". So I start talking about it and he argues that he doesn't have any money blah blah boo-hoo. We already know that SimCity is Free at the beta site.

So I show him the gameplay footage we saw in our last post. First thing he says after seeing the police station is ' MECHA ROBOT POLICEMEN EVERYWHERE". I was thinking to myself "Um... K" and then politely said, "Ya.. I don't think there is going to be anything.. like that in the game", followed by "It's more about building, and city planning". And then we discuss the many different power sources and the efficiency of nuclear power and so-on and so-forth.

So I get home, I start looking into what I can use to write another article for this SimCity Blog, so I check the official SimCity EA Facebook page. God damn it, wouldn't you know it, this is what I see..

Is that a fucking Mecha Robot Policeman? Are you serious? How the FUCK did that happen. My friend could not have said a more random thing if he tried and BOOM there it is. I was going to write a classy, well written article about the game.. but that is just not an option tonight. Enjoy everyone.

Also! Remember to head over to the SimCity Free site to get a free copy of  SimCity before it comes out.

SimCity 2013 - Strategic Game Play

We have been wondering how the game would play out. We have been teased with images of the game and now we can finally see how it plays. I have to say, the game is FAR more complicated than past versions, and I mean this in a great way. There is a lot of planning involved, and strategic choices must be made. The zoning of the city is actually amazing in how it reflects the real world. The complexity of this game actually blows my mind and I am extremely excited. Take a look at this video from EA.

The data layer view is extremely interesting. If you missed it in the video, there is a view in the game that allows you to view the flow of electricity and water, among other things. This isn't the simple game it used to be, this is where SimCity had always wanted to be, but couldn't achieve due to the limitations of computers.

Now, so far we have not seen anything about destroying your city with tornadoes, volcanoes, or other disasters, but after seeing how the game plays.. Why the hell would I want to destroy this city? Especially since you play against all other players.  As this next video shows, you can work on cities with your friends. The multiplier is exactly what I want to see in a game like this, and it was something I was worried about.
The narrator said it best, it wouldn't be SimCity without disasters  So it turns out we do get all the great fun of blowing up our cities. Maybe it will be cheaper than bulldozing?

Remember what we said in our last post, EA is giving out copies of SimCity FREE. The full game. Don't miss your chance.

SimCity is BACK! 2013

March 5, 2013 SimCity is BACK!

March 5th we will welcome back an old childhood favorite from the Sims series. SimCity is back under the classic title, simply being called "SimCity 2013". The game is currently available for pre-order at EA's sponsored "SimCity.com" website at the following link: http://www.simcity.com/en_US/buy

The game retails for PC at $59.99 for the limited edition pre-order which comes with the "HEROES AND VILLAINS SET expansion set as a pre-order gift. It is assumed that after the release date the game will not include this expansion. Also out the same day will be released "SimCity Digital Deluxe Edition" which retails at $79.99. This version will come with the previous expansion as well as three more; "FRENCH CITY SET, GERMAN CITY SET, BRITISH CITY SET".  Is EA really money whoring already? Before the game is released? It would be assumed that if the content already exists  they may just include it in the game to add to the play-ability and make it an overall better game. Or they could be classic EA and give you a game 80% complete and give the remaining 20% to you for an additional fee. All of that aside I am a huge SimCity fan and I honestly can't wait to get my copy.

Even though EA is charging for the expansions, you may not have to even pay for the game! EA appears to be giving away the game to early fans who are eager to play. As an early promotion EA is giving away a limited supply of copies of the game to the fans to get hype up for the March 15th launch. You can claim your free copy of SimCity at http://www.SimCityFree.com
